6th Sunday after Pentecost

The Letter to the Hebrews was probably written to Christian Jews who were being persecuted and suffering under Jewish and Roman culture and laws.  This letter reminds them that Jesus is above all other names.  The beleaguered and humiliated people of God can take courage because they are nothing less than God’s sons and daughters through the suffering of Jesus on the cross and in dwelling with a broken humanity.
