Mystery and Disillusionment

This week, we explore the sacred words of "mystery" and "disillusionment." Disillusionment is defined as a feeling of disappointment because something or someone was not as "good" as you thought it or they should be. Pastor Andrea Fluegel and Jack Palmer discuss these sacred words within the context of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, what we have come to know as Palm Sunday. How is it that we view God? Do we feel that God is meeting our expectations and if not are we disillusioned and disappointed? Author Anne Lamott says, "Expectations are resentments under construction." Instead, how do we live into the mystery of God? For more discussion on Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, listen to the Bible study on April 5, 2019 called, "Palm Sunday."

From Series: "Sacred Words"

This series is based on Jonathan Merritt's book, "Learning to Speak God from Scratch." There are words that we often use such as grace, neighbor, and sin. But do we actually understand what they mean? In conversations with others, are we using the words in the same way and meaning the same thing? In this series, we explore some of these words.
