This begins the 2020 Lenten Midweek worship experience as we entering the Passion of Jesus, picturing ourselves in the story.
So, we begin tonight, in the Temple. It is not exactly where Holy Week begins or does it? In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus rides a colt, a donkey, to the shouts of “Hosanna,” “save us,” as he enters Jerusalem for the Passover celebration, for the Festival of Freedom. “Then he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple; and when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.”
Then Jesus goes into the Temple and calls it a "Den of Thieves." What does this mean for us today? What does it tell us about how we enter into the week of passion?
This series focuses on the events of Holy Week over the course of the whole Lent season, freeze-framing important moments from the last week of Jesus' mortal life and allowing us to imagine ourselves in the middle of the action. What new meaning can we find for our lives today by framing these moments and discovering our own place in this Passion drama?
