Wind and Fire

Wind and Fire

This week, Pastor Andrea Fluegel and Jack Palmer discuss the Day of Pentecost, also known as the birthday of the Church. This Biblical story from Luke-Acts is rooted in Old Testament scripture, prophesies, and the fulfillment of God's law. Pentecost came 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus. Many from diverse lands and cultures came to celebrate the Festival of Weeks in Jerusalem. Then a great rush of wind and flames of fire landed on each and every person. What does it mean that the Holy Spirit was given to ALL people in the same size and portion? Some say this even was a reversal of what happened at the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11). Was it truly a reversal or something being created anew? How is the Holy Spirit creating you and the Church anew?

Scripture References: Acts 2:1-21

From Series: "Heart of the Matter"

"Heart of the Matter" is a seven-week series concluding with the Festival Day of Pentecost. Easter is not just a day. It is a whole season of time when we remember and celebrate that the Spirit of Jesus lives on in each of us. So over the next few weeks, we are worshiping and praising God as the early disciples (later apostles) did, in their homes with glad and generous hearts, breaking bread, and having the goodwill of all people. It is in this way, that we are connected. We are connected through the love and grace of Jesus. Worship script by Marcia McFee and Worship Design Studio.
