We are in the final week of a six-week series called Reversal and Restoration. We continue to explore how the promises of God are fulfilled in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus through the lens of the Gospel of Luke. This episode digs deep into some of our biggest questions such as “Does God have control in the case of horrific accidents” and “Does God use such events to punish people for their sins?” Jesus answers that disaster and suffering are not synonymous with God’s judgment. Instead, the people are guilty of working with their own definitions of faithfulness and God’s purpose through Jesus. God’s ultimate mission is about grace, mercy and love.
This series continues to explore how the promises of God are fulfilled in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus through the lens of the Gospel of Luke. Yet those promises are not always what we expect or think that we need. Instead, Jesus’ mission and ministry brings with it controversy, reversal, and confusion. Ultimately, his mission prepares his disciples including us to become apostles sharing the Good News of love and grace to ALL people in both word and deed.
