17th Sunday after Pentecost

Passage: Matthew 21:1-11
Service Type:

The definition of disillusionment is “a feeling of disappointment resulting from the discovery that something is not as good as one believed it to be.”  When Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem, the people thought that Jesus was a new conqueror, a new king.  But quickly, their expectations and ideas of what that meant changed.  Jesus was not the conqueror and king that they envisioned.  What happens when Jesus is not the person/God we think he should be?  What happens when we let our disillusionment overtake the mystery of God?
