Defiled Hands

Series:
Passage: Mark 7:1-23
Service Type:

This week, Pastor Andrea Fluegel is joined by Deacon Rick Miech from St. Peter's Catholic Parish in Eagle River, Wisconsin. They discuss the ritual of hand washing in the Jewish culture and faith in the first century. Why was hand washing so important? Was it just for hygiene purposes? Jesus counteracts the tradition of the religious elders by stating that uncleanness and defilement are matters of intention and heart, not the violation of cultic rituals and formalities. How do you continue to uphold human traditions versus living out the commandments of God in your daily life?
