The Sent Out Ones
This week, Pastor Andrea Fluegel and Jack Palmer continue the discussion on the Gospel of Mark. Now the scene shifts in geographical location. Jesus is rejected by his hometown, his friends and family. They do not recognize him as the Messiah, the Savior. They continue to see him as the son of a carpenter. Jesus also sends out the disciples with his authority and by his name. The responsibility for ministry shifts. By the authority of Jesus, the disciples are now the sent out ones (apostles). Mark then sandwiches the beheading of John the Baptist within this story. What does all of this mean for the disciples and for us as we are sent out on behalf of Jesus to teach, preach and heal in his name?
