Crisis of Faith

Crisis of Faith

We are in week 2 of a 6-week series called, Returning to the Promise. In this series, we will explore stories from the Old Testament. This week, we look at the story of Abraham, who is known as the Father of the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faiths. In this story, we move from stories about the world to stories about an individual family and its descendants. The faith to which Abraham is called is not a peaceful, pious acceptance, contrary to what we might believe. It is a hard-fought and deeply argued conviction. Abraham is not a passive recipient of the promise. Despite his laments and fear, God calls Abraham to live as creatures of hope even when in a hopeless situation. How do you live in hope despite what you feel is a hopeless situation? How do you hear God’s promises?
