Costly Grace

Costly Grace

Third week of a six-week series called Lost and Found. We continue to explore how the promises of God are fulfilled in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus through the lens of the Gospel of Luke. In this episode, we explore the story of Jesus on the road to and from Jericho just outside of Jerusalem. On his way, he heals a blind man and eats dinner with a short in stature tax collector and Roman collaborator Zacchaeus. In both of these stories there is a costly love. A love that costs Jesus, Zacchaeus, the blind man, and the larger community. However, the benefits of this love outweigh the cost. What does it mean to love? For Zacchaeus, he accepts that costly love and in so doing accepts being found. That acceptance is his repentance. How does costly love show up in your life or in the lives of others? How are you practicing and embodying costly love?
