Fifth week of a six-week series called Lost and Found. We continue to explore how the promises of God are fulfilled in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus through the lens of the Gospel of Luke. In this episode, we explore Jesus’ resurrection, the empty tomb, and unbelief. There is a mystery, unbelief, and perplexity around the story of the resurrection. How could this be? How could a man that was dead not be in the place where he was laid or buried? It is difficult to grasp and get our logical and rational minds around. Encountering the empty tomb leads to perplexity, amazement, cynicism and unbelief. In addition, this story leads us into the Book of Acts. Things have changed for the disciples and for us. Jesus has prepared us, but now what? Interestingly, the women in this story are given no commission but are themselves treated as recipients of Jesus’ words and summoned simply to authentic understanding. How do you understand the resurrection? What does it mean to you? How will you continue participating in God’s story?
