2nd Sunday after Pentecost

Psalm 69 is one of the longest prayers for help in the Book of Psalms.  The petitions are complex, cover multiple themes, and give us the words to express that we feel as if our lives are meaningless.  This Psalm is also known as an Imprecatory Psalm in which the writer desires God to curse and judge enemies of God because of their threats, taunts, and ridicule.  And yet, the Psalmist goes on to say that when we are tossed by the waves of life, God’s compassion and care bring us still and peaceful waters, even for just a moment.
