Promises of New Possibilities

We are in week 3 of a 6-week series called, Returning to the Promise. In this series, we will explore stories from the Old Testament. This week, we look at the story of Joseph. For some of us we are familiar with Joseph and his coat of many colors. So how is this story of Joseph being left for dead, a story about God’s promise? This story was likely written down at a time when the reality of God was not doubted but treated as irrelevant. It is a story about forgiveness, as well as how new possibilities threaten the old present order. It is a story of how the purposes of God are at work in hidden and unnoticed ways. But the ways of God are nonetheless reliable and will come to fruition.
