We celebrate John Adams, Jo Simons, Tim Wright, Dawn Copple, Mary Akins, Zach Braunel and Benjamin Braunel birthdays in November. No anniversaries were report.

HUGE SHOUT TO THE NIEMCZYKS – Randy and Diane have been busy in our ‘library’ area. Prepping the walls and painting the room so we can move forward in making it a resource for everyone. Prepping the walls ended up being a monster of a task. We deeply appreciate their willingness to share their knowledge, sweat and time.

ANN OOTO – She will be out of the office the first week of Dec, returning on Dec 9.

FUN FACT – I didn’t have an immediate fun fact in mind this week. Probably will revisit Advent next week. As I was typing out the information about the Thanksgiving Day worship service – I thought – what IS the definition of “Episcopal”? Honestly – I thought it was going to be a tad bit more meaning.

Episcopal adjective epis·co·pal i-ˈpi-skə-pəl -bəl
1 : of or relating to a bishop
2 : of, having, or constituting government by bishops

Nope. Guessing someone couldn’t say “Bishopal”. (‘Course – that could lead to a bunch of irreverent memes.) Dug into the etymology and the word is from Middle English (not Middle Earth), from Late Latin episcopalis, from episcopus bishop. Earliest known use was from the 15th century.

Then there was a note stating more information was within the definition of ‘bishop”. You know I cannot resist a rabbit hole. Onto the definition of ‘bishop”. Where the expected definition of church leadership was indicated as well as the chess piece. BUT there also is a “mulled port wine flavored with oranges and cloves” which is called a Bishop. Timely for Thanksgiving?

And in case you wanted to devote a poem to “Episcopal” here are five words that rhyme:
archepiscopal, chorepiscopal, monepiscopal, nonepiscopal and unepiscopal. And each has to do with being or not being ‘piscopal’.

NOTES FROM ANN – The picture at the top has a hidden image. An owl is halfway up – blending nicely into the bark. I was able to snap a picture of this beauty in our driveway. I hear them on a regular basis, but this was my first ‘sort of-up close and personal’ opportunity to take a picture. Then – I snuck a picture of Randy – hard at work in our library/history/family/timeout room. It is wonderful to see a variety of visions coming together. Diane has been here every day as well – also helping with transforming the room into usable space for all!

I don’t know about you – but I’ve been busy working on my Thanksgiving Day menu. I have to cut most of my recipes into fourths because Burt doesn’t like all the extra stuff. But – he does like enough of Thanksgiving food to look forward to making leftover Thanksgiving pizza. Which is amazing. Pizza crust with cranberry sauce – dot with leftover mashed potatoes, turkey and stuffing – cover with mozzarella and bake. Your taste buds are in for a delight!

Gearing up for the big holiday rush. Take time out for yourself. Remember what is most important. Take time to breath and enjoy – not just do – or just check it off the list. If you’re traveling – travel safe and be well.
