Rev. Grant Van Lishout

Rev. Grant Van Lishout begins his second year with us at Prince of Peace.
Along with 16 years of experience, he brings energy and a love of music to our worship.  "I enjoy journeying with our congregation through the seasons of the church year," he says, "and I especially enjoy the conversations that happen before and after worship."

Rev. Grant Van Lishout's journey in ministry has been diverse and enriching.  He started at the North and South West Prairie Lutheran church, a two-point congregation in rural Viroqua, Wisconsin.  His next call was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa, where he served for nine years.  A unique opportunity as a spiritual director at Marywood Franciscan Spirituality Center, located north of Woodruff on Trout Lake, brought him and his family to the Northwoods.  During this time, he also preached and led worship for numerous congregations in Vilas and Oneida counties.

"I truly enjoy being with individuals as they notice and discern the work of God in their everyday lives," Van Lishout says.  He continues to serve on the planning team for the Spiritual Directors Preparation Program based out of the Franciscan Spirituality Center in La Crosse, WI.  He is also on the board of directors for the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration affiliation group, who strive for justice and equality, creation care, and gospel-centered living.

He and his wife Sherry, who is an associate pastor at Ascension Lutheran Church, Minocqua, live with their two daughters on a wooded acreage and hobby farm in Minocqua.  Lily (13) will enter 8th grade at MHLT, plays the flute and the bells and is on the swim team.  Hope (10) will be going into 6th grade, swims on the swim team and helps the altar guild set up at church.  Both girls love hanging out at home with their dog, Kaydee, three bunnies, and a dozen chickens.

Prince of Peace is one of 77 congregations in the Marquette, Michigan-based Northern Great Lakes Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, an area that includes the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and six adjacent north-eastern Wisconsin counties.
