FUN FACT – one of the most difficult words to pronounce in the English language is “Worcestershire”.At first glance, the word appears long and phonetic, which makes you think you need to pronounce every letter. However, several letters in Worcestershire are actually silent. This mismatch between spelling and sound makes it difficult to pronounce. Actual pronunciation: This word is pronounced as “WUSS-ter-shuh” (I guarantee you I will still mispronounce it)
NOTES FROM ANN: So many great pictures this week. I had to include them all. Up top is Pastor Grant’s mismatched socks! He won’t be with us on Sunday, but was feeling left out so he made sure he participated. Then – I’m pleased to introduce to you, Meekah! She is a miniature American Eskimo and Donald and Pepper Bauer belong to her. The Bauers are friends of our congregation and join us whenever they are in the area.
I’m not sure if you noticed, but we had a bit of snow this past week. We received a couple of ‘snow art’ pictures.
I had an interesting conversation with Betty Wright and found out her lineage includes being a “Pioneer Family” of Wisconsin. What that means is her ancestors were living in Wisconsin (prior to 1850) before Wisconsin became a state.
Today I am playing ALL kinds of songs in the office. My computer is on the fritz re: playing sound so I swiped the blue tooth speaker from the sanctuary. I’ve been playing a lot of Soloman Ray, Jelly Roll and Shaboozey, also “Here I am Lord” and “It is Well with my Soul”. I blame Sherry. I went to the Lenten service last night. It is a really great service to go to because the choir practices right beforehand. Having the service in the Fellowship Hall (which is smaller) with the choir making up about half of those present, made the music just soar! I sat towards the back and let it flow over me. So incredibly peaceful. I needed it.
There was an underlying charge to it. As if we were creating a peace forcefield and putting it out into the world, where it would meet up with the other ‘peace pools’ that others were/are creating. A butterfly wings impact on peace!
We have one more soup supper. If you haven’t made it to one yet- I highly recommend it. I won’t be here next week as I will be on my way to Vegas to meet Barry Manilow in person. I think Flat Luther needs to come with me. Speaking of Flat Luther – he has been on a few more adventures – check out the windows.
I will be Leaving in the Morning at Daybreak. Even Now I can’t believe it!
[New directory will be out April 1st – if you have any updates that I don’t already have – please let me know]
“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife.” Khalil Gibran
