“THERE’s A LOT OF COFFEE IN BRAZIL! (from The Coffee Song)” – You don’t have to be from Brazil; you don’t have to have blue eyes; and your name doesn’t have to be Frank in order to help out during Fellowship Hour. The sign-up sheet is in the Fellowship Hall. Always looking for volunteers to bake/supply goodies, serve and/or clean up. Your options are open! (Just don’t serve cherry soda or potato juice. Mr. Sinatra says that isn’t allowed.)

QUILTERS UNTIE! – I mean unite to tie. Tie one on with the quilting group as they assemble quilts. Meet every first and third Wed of the month 9:30 to 11:30 am.

WOMEN OF THE EARTH – Special Evening Event – All women of the Prince of Peace congregation and community are invited to Women of the Earth on Sunday, April 26 at 5:00 PM. Join us for a meaningful evening celebrating the many ways you support your families, friends, church, and community. This special event includes a four-course meal and a heartfelt program centered around Service, Sisterhood & Sanctuary. Cost: $40 per person Registration: Forms in Narthex or in the Front Office.

EVEN THOUGH THE DEADLINE WAS APRIL 15, I “KNOW A GUY” AND CAN STILL GET YOU IN IF YOU WANT TO ATTEND, BUT ONLY UNTIL NOON ON APRIL 21.

MOVIE NIGHT – Movie nights are coming back for the summer! We are looking for sponsors for July, August and September. If you sponsor – you get to pick the movie! Please contact Ann if you are interested. Movies to consider since it is the 250th birthday of our Nation: Hamilton, Top Gun Maverick and/or 1776 (another musical -which is a personal favorite)

LOST AND FOUND – there was a nice knitted black glove found in the parking lot. It has a pattern on it. Maybe size M or S? Nice glove. If you’re missing it – it is in the Front Office.

GARBAGE – if the garbage cans are full and the lids cannot be put on securely, please let us know – and do not put garbage out. We have had ‘critter attacks’ and it isn’t fun picking up garbage across the parking lot.

BIKE SWAP/FREE SAFETY RODEO – May 23, 11 am – 2 pm – Boulder Junction Community Center, 5392 Park Street, Boulder Junction. See flyer on bulletin board.

NOTES FROM ANN – Can you even believe it? We are already halfway through April. Two nights ago I heard the peepers for the first time this year. Today on my way into work – I heard a redwing blackbird (a personal fav). The ice is almost off our little lake. (Tho the lake level is still very low). Spring projects are calling my name!

Apparently they are calling others names as well. This past week has been hustling and bustling here at Prince of Peace. Lots of meetings. Lots of planning. Lots of little things getting done. Not by me. Not by Pastor Grant. But by our congregation. So many of you jump in when something needs to be done and just get it done. Special shout out to Dave Tipple and Denis Del Ponte. These two gentlemen have been doing a lot behind the scenes.

A warm welcome back to our returning snowbirds. That is another sign of Spring when we start seeing their faces again!

Have a neat “small world” story to share with you. Actually – two of them.

First one – when we were planning our Game Day, I had posted a story about the oldest known game – it is called the Royal Game of Ur. The Rasmussens were intrigued enough by the description and purchased the game. When it came time to play – they discovered a set of rules called the Finkel Rules for playing the game. (The instructions that come with the game are rather convoluted). Using the Finkel Rules – they have come to really enjoy the game. So much so when their son stopped by, Patty pulled the game out to play with him. And wouldn’t you know it? Her son knows Professor Finkel!

Second one – recently I shared pictures of my childhood church – Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL. Barb Zima saw the pictures and asked me if I knew Pastor Roberts and/or Jonathon Chell. YES! I responded. Pastor Roberts taught my confirmation class and Jonathon Chell is an ICON in the music world (in Rockford). When Barb and George took their kids camping, in Canada, to a Lutheran camp – they arrived to find that the camp was basically overrun by a congregation from Rockford. MY PEOPLE! The Zimas stayed in touch with them for years afterwards. I can’t remember if it was the Roberts or the Chells, but one of them came Up North on a regular basis and they were able to visit.
