FUN FACT: It’s impossible to hum while holding your nose. (FYI – Pastor Grant tried this – he said you can start a hum, but cannot finish a hum)
NOTES FROM ANN – this week it is going to be all about JOY! *First off – my tuna casserole story. Back in the 70s, we were at my Grandfather’s (we called him Bunka) cabin on Skunk Lake, in Hazelhurst. I don’t remember who all was there, but my Aunt Margaret (once removed & great – both figuratively and literally) was there along with my Grandfather, my siblings, and my parents. Aunt Margaret had made this massive tuna casserole. Which was great the first time around. Then there was a power outage. And Bunka being the thrifty soul that he was (this is a guy who purchased beer with the white can and the blue stripe that said “beer” on it) decided we would be eating tuna casserole until it was gone.
We had tuna casserole for breakfast (and it was still good the second time around). Tuna casserole for lunch (meh). And tuna casserole for dinner (much picking at our plates). I believe, since our appetite decreased each meal, the tuna casserole made it to a second breakfast before meeting its final demise. Dad may have even taken pity on us and dumped whatever was left so Bunka wouldn’t make us eat it for lunch again.
Tuna casserole hasn’t been a favorite of mine for years. Tho my friend Julie makes a wicked tuna concoction that I love.
My point about the tuna casserole was to ensure a variety of fun things to eat for Barb and from what I have seen on the Meal Train – y’all are hitting it out of the park!
On to joy. I’m staying at my friend Stacy’s house tomorrow night. (Oh by the way – I am out of the office on Jan 30th). I have a long history of tormenting her in a variety of ways. Purchased a drum set for her daughter. Minion fart guns and LoudCups for her kids. Fun stuff like that. I’m going to be left unattended in her house Friday morning. I purchased a bag of 200 little itty bitty ducks. And will be planting them around her house for her to find at her leisure.
I told Pastor Grant what I was planning on doing. He told me about an older German Lutheran pastor – who at his installation – had a bag of yellow plastic ducks and lobbed them out into the congregation as a reminder to find joy each day. [Which then led to a conversation about something we are going to do here at Prince of Peace – inspired by the pastor AND by Pastor Sherry – so stand by for some church shenanigans later this year.]
We want to hear about YOUR joy and what kind of joy have you found in your day?
